Bento Story Tile Component
One of the key challenges at Amazon is striking the right balance between scalability and design.
My primary mission was to develop scalable solutions that empower teams to create visually appealing pages without requiring coding or design expertise.
This task is particularly ambitious, as it involves not only defining and explaining adaptable design patterns but also allowing external partners to maintain flexibility in using their own typography, colors, and branding.
The tool is configurable via a React tool, without any coding skills
Thanks to CSS Grids, Flexbox, and extensive use of clamping, the tool is fully responsive without relying on breakpoints. It ensures an optimized bento-style layout at any screen size, eliminating the need to worry about specific dimensions. You can see also the text adapting base on the parent available space.
All colors and dimensions are fully customizable, allowing the tool to adapt seamlessly to any type of imagery provided by advertisers.
The tool is also fully accessible, handling focus trapping, ensuring correct semantics, and enforcing content to have meaningful structure.
So, at the end Bento Story Tiles is a component designed to create engaging visual experiences in brand stores. It presents content in a flexible grid format, resembling a "bento box," combining images, videos, and text in an appealing and interactive layout. The component is ideal for showcasing product benefits and driving user interaction. It allows users to quickly grasp key information without overwhelming them with technical details, which can be revealed after user interaction.
